ACTIVITY LEVEL:
     Moderate

TACTICS:                  teamwork,
QEP:                         Competency II: cooperation-opposition, use of available space, communication

OBJECTIVE
To score points by running around the bases, similar to softball.

EQUIPMENT
Mushballs, bats, bases, pinnies

DIRECTIONS
Divide class into 2 differently coloured teams: striking and fielding...

STRIKING TEAM:
- Everyone bats once
- The pitcher is part of this team. He/she bats last, and has another player from his/her team pitch for him/her
- Each batter is allowed only one pitch
- No bunting; there must be a full swing of the bat
- Any hit is a fair ball, there are no foul lines
- No leading off bases, or stealing allowed
- Score one point each time a player runs around bases to home plate

FIELDING TEAM:
- Players cover infield, outfield, and catcher
- Get offensive players out by:
                - Catching a fly ball (even if it hits the wall or ceiling);
                - Touching runner while holding the ball
                - Touching the base while holding the ball before the runner gets to it
- When the last offensive players hits, it’s advised to pass the ball home as quickly as possible

MODIFICATIONS
- If mushballs aren’t available, use a regular tennis ball or small soft playground ball
- If too easy for outfielders, make their bases farther apart, same idea goes for the batting team.

SAFETY CUES
- Keep head up, always be ready
- Members of striking team who are not “at bat” should stand far from play area (ideally on a side bench)
- Catcher should not stand directly behind batter
